FROM MERIDA

Campeche´s downtown has a beauty that won this city the priviledge of being named by UNESCO world heritage in 1999.

Stroll along its cobbled streets and admire the colors of their houses and uniformly painted buildings. To defend themselves against the constant attacks of pirates, a gigantic wall was built around the city, today there are several parts of it that you can still visit, as well as the Fort.

Some other places of interest are "Puerta de Tierra" (earth gate) and  "Puerta del Mar" (sea gate), the only former accesses to Campeche. You will also have the oportunity of tasting the amazing cuisine based on seafood and fish, among the most delicious of Mexico. Visit one of the most important archaeological zones of the Mayan Route: Edzná, that means 'House of the Itza' or 'House of the echo' or 'House of the gestures', a mayan city of admirable architecture.
